MAP ONE

MAP ONE is an interdisciplinary cooperation
between the information designer Gerlinde Schuller
(Amsterdam) and the artist Claudia Weber (Berlin).
MAP ONE was founded in 2000 with the aim
of connecting the fields of design and art on
a content-related level.

Gerlinde Schuller is head of the Information Design
Studio in Amsterdam. She is specialized in infor-
mation design, the conception and design of complex information systems. Besides working on commis-
sions for international clients, she is interested to
establish experimental platforms for information
design.

Claudia Weber lives in Berlin and works as an artist
with a main focus on installations. Installations allow
addressing complex contents in different media
and connecting them both conceptually and spatially.
Her aim is not to create aural works of art but
modular visual systems that directly respond to
societal developments and discuss them on a model
level.

MAP ONE performs
visual communication
as research.

For us, this includes active international exchange,
the continuous observation of societal developments
and an own unique viewpoint. Our interest in
complex systems simultaneously implies analyzing
and questioning conventional structures.
By establishing very different types of connections
between themes and structures, we create our own
method of developing concepts. We develop specific
formats for each project, e.g. by reworking the
structures of common applications, thus narrating
documentations in an unconventional way.
